Hi everyone -
We are thrilled to report that we're going back for a second Ethiopia Smile trip - YAHOO! This time around we have decided to take the whole family, so this will be my third time there, John, Matt & Sophie's second trip and Katie and William's first. We are going the week of Thanksgiving and will need lots of prayers for a safe trip. This time around we will be focused primarily on dental needs, but we will also be a part of some veterinary clinics, some VBS-type camps for the children waiting at the clinics, and a baseball clinic in Dube Bute - the village that the Alexanders helped transform with a bridge, new medical facilities, clean water and new school. The kids are so excited and we are so blessed to be able to be a part of this amazing group.
We've decided to focus our donations this time around on things that the kids can relate to and help with their own hands. We are asking for new toothbrushes, travel-sized toothpaste tubes and over-the-counter anti-fungal or anti-bacterial cream (hydrocortisone, lamisil, clotrimazole, etc). The kids will be collecting these items at school with the help of their teachers and principals as well as at CCD. We will also have a donation box at our house for those of you who are local. Of course, we will always accept monetary donations, but figured since every child brushes his teeth and understands the importance of good oral hygiene (we hope!), that was the best way to get them involved.
You can see all of the information from the last EthiopiaSmile trip that Matt and I were involved in below. Thanks in advance for your help and check back in November for trip updates!
